With start of the winter, when everything around reminds about Christmas and New Year holidays, children around the world are looking forward to a miracle. And especially we want to give a feeling of a fairy tale to those who need it the most. The OKKO filling stations network and Charity Foundation "Tabletochky" decided that childhood dream to be alive, to be healthy and happy, will come true sooner if each of us will make a common everyday action. It’s so simple to join the joint charity campaign "Christmas coffee - your good cause" which will run from December 1 to 31 in the OKKO network. The funds, raised during the campaign, will help to purchase medicines for the patients of the children's oncological centers of the country.
Every customer of OKKO can do a good thing, just purchasing any hot beverage from 6:00 to 11:00 am at a network of 400 filling stations in December. UAH 1 from each drink will be transferred to the Charity Froundation "Tabletochky", which takes care of the children with cancer. And if a guest of OKKO also pays with Mastercard, the amount of donation will increase to UAH 2. So, enjoying your favorite coffee or flavored tea, you can give small children a piece of warmth and faith in a bright future.
All funds raised will go to purchase the medicine "Vancomycin" – a strong antibiotic, which about 30% of children with cancer in Ukraine need. It is quite expensive medicine, that are purchased abroad and the acquisition of which the state does not compensate. Today, about 700 children in Ukraine are taking this medicine and about half of them applied for help to the Charity Foundation "Tabletochky". The initiators of the campaign "Christmas coffee - your good cause" hope that concerned Ukrainians during December will be able to raise an amount sufficient to buy the stock of "Vancomycin" for these children for a whole year.
"In the developed countries more than 80% of children recover from cancer, while in Ukraine - only 50%. The main reason is lack of medical supplies for children in hospitals here and now. Parents and benefactors have on their own to look for medications urgently, losing precious time. With the help of our partners we can provide children with stock of antibiotics, and thus to increase their chances of recovery"- says co-founder of "Tabletochky" Irina Litovchenko.
The OKKO network has repeatedly participated in the campaigns organized by the Foundation "Tabletochky", knowing that every hryvna matters and gives an extra chance for a child to recover. In particular, the company has supported such initiatives as the International Childhood Cancer Day and Charity flashmob "Lemonade Day", donating the part of earnings from coffee and refreshing drinks. In June, the company held a charity fair to sell sweets and handmade products of OKKO employees, along with “Tabletochki” branded souvenirs. All money were also donated to help children with cancer. Now OKKO network sells a book by Katerina Babkina "A Cap and a whale" - UAH 5 from each sold copy are donated to "Tabletochky".
"Working with "Tabletochky" to help children with cancer, we focus not only on profit but also on the emotional result. It is important that in this pre-holiday time, more people feel as good-doers, contributing to a large, important and good cause - says Head of communications of OKKO network Olexander Shevelev. - We communicates with our employees and guests of our filling stations that there may be some children very close, who are now fighting for their health and for whom any support and help are very important. Compassion and empathy are no less necessary for them than the money raised".
