OKKO Group Holding purchased the first batch of special bitumen trucks to establish its own logistics and bitumen sales in Ukraine. The cars were purchased from the Ukrainian manufacturer Everlast (Odesa) and the Turkish company Ali Riza Usta (Konya). In addition, OKKO has started to form its own fleet of tank trucks for bitumen transportation.
OKKO Holding started supplying bitumen in Ukraine last year, but still uses rented vehicles. Now the company intends to create its own full cycle from the purchase of the product from the manufacturer to its delivery to the customer at the destination.
"Given the condition of roads in Ukraine, bitumen will remain a popular commodity for a long time. Last year, we observed that the consumption of this product exceeded 1 million tons, twice the figure for 2019. There will be no such rapid dynamics in 2021, but the high demand for bitumen will remain, -explains OKKO Group Vice President Yurii Kuchabskyi. - And our goal is to become one of the key operators in this market".
According to him, the company has enough reasons for this. First, OKKO has long-standing business relationships with manufacturers in Poland and Belarus, from where it imports bitumen. And this is a guarantee that the company is able to provide customers with resources on time and in the right amounts. Secondly, with a good understanding of the specifics of road construction, OKKO Group is ready to supply customers with bitumen with deferred payment. For the future, OKKO is considering the possibility of organizing and importing bitumen to Ukraine by sea.
