In 2019, OKKO network collected almost 209 tons of second-hand items, which have already been handed over to socially vulnerable citizens (homeless people, residents of boarding schools and geriatric institutions, hospice patients and other categories) in different regions of Ukraine. This is the best result in the history of the project, which is implementing for 7 years in a row. In 2019, the collection of second-hand items increased by a third, compared to the previous year.
The OKKO network installs special containers at filling stations, where each of the customers can leave used clothes, shoes, bedding, etc. Currently, such containers are installed at 23 filling stations in 6 cities – Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mariupol. Addresses of filling stations can be found here.
The project is implemented in cooperation with volunteer and charitable organizations, which take second-hand items out of filling stations, sort them and distribute them free of charge among those who need them. Currently, OKKO's partners are "Emmaus-Oselya", "Ukraine without Borders", "Good Samaritan" and “Let’s Help". The company is ready to develop the same social activities in other regions.
"Containers at the filling stations are the solution to several problems at once: a new life of old things and support for those who need help. And it is an opportunity for each of our clients and colleagues to become a benefactor, to help others", said Yaroslava Polyakova, Head of Corporate Communications of OKKO."We are happy to see how the amount of help is growing from year to year, so we manage to make the world a little more humane and better. "
In 2018, this project of OKKO network was recognized as the winner of the National business case competition on corporate social responsibility “Business that changes the country” in the nomination “Reducing inequality”.
