OKKO Group Begins Construction of the First Hotel Complex at GORO Mountain Resort in the Lviv Carpathians
Feb 12, 2025

OKKO Group has commenced the construction of the first hotel complex at the GORO Mountain Resort, a premier mountain resort in the Lviv Carpathians. The project, spanning a total area of 48,000 square meters, will feature three designer hotels with 415 rooms. Of this space, 11,000 square meters are dedicated to commercial and entertainment infrastructure.

This complex is one of five hotel complexes in the initial phase of the GORO project, which will ultimately encompass nine hotels with over 1,100 rooms. The resort will boast extensive recreational facilities, including spa areas, swimming pools, restaurants, children's zones, and business spaces.

GORO Development, an investment and real estate development company within OKKO Group, manages the development of the resort’s hospitality properties. The company oversees architectural planning, construction, operational functionality, and investment attraction in the hotel business. Over the next 15 years, GORO Development aims to construct 25 hotels with 5,150 rooms across the resort. The first phase is scheduled to be completed in 2028–2029.

"The construction of the first hotel complex marks a strategically significant step in realising the comprehensive vision of an all-season, internationally recognised resort. According to the master plan, developed in collaboration with Austrian experts, a well-balanced integration of mountain, ski, hotel, and entertainment infrastructure will extend visitors' stays, bringing substantial economic benefits to the entire region. GORO will also become one of Ukraine’s largest recreational and infrastructure projects, reinforcing the country's position on the European tourism map," explained Vasyl Danylyak, CEO of OKKO Group and co-founder of GORO Mountain Resort.

 About GORO Mountain Resort

GORO Mountain Resort is Ukraine's first all-season mountain resort with a world-class holistic concept and the broadest palette of impressions, services and attractions.

OKKO Group launched the large-scale GORO Mountain Resort project in October 2024. The resort spans nearly 1,200 hectares, with 360 hectares allocated for mountain and ski infrastructure and over 800 hectares for hotel, commercial, and recreational development. Over the next 15 years, in addition to the 25 planned hotels, the resort will feature 41 ski slopes covering 75 km with 342 hectares of snowmaking capabilities, two modern gondola lifts, 11 chairlifts, and Welcome and Mountain centres.

The first phase, covering 127 hectares, is being developed near the village of Volosyanka, just 5 km from Slavske in the Lviv region. This phase includes five hotel complexes, 10 ski slopes totalling 13 km with 50 hectares of snowmaking, the longest gondola lift (2.8 km), and two state-of-the-art chairlifts (1.5 km). The project has secured a 10-year long-term loan from PUMB to fund key ski infrastructure components, such as the Welcome Centre, the lower gondola lift station, and a multi-level parking facility, all currently under construction.

The total investment in GORO Mountain Resort is estimated at $1.5 billion. OKKO Group plans to contribute $500 million through its capital and credit funds, with an additional $1 billion expected from external investors.

OKKO Group is the sole owner, primary investor, master developer, builder, and operator of GORO Mountain Resort, ensuring a harmonised and integrated approach to the all-season recreational project. To establish the resort as an international destination, OKKO Group has engaged world-class Austrian experts, including PKF Hospitality (investment analysis and concept development), ILF Group (master planning and ski infrastructure), and Doppelmayr/Garaventa Gruppe (lift and cable car system design).

OKKO Group encompasses more than 10 diversified businesses across the fuel and energy sector, retail, manufacturing, alternative energy, agriculture, real estate development and construction, and various service industries. The group’s flagship business is Ukraine’s largest fuel network, operating under the OKKO brand, with 410 fuel stations.

OKKO Group is actively expanding into new sectors, including electricity production and storage, gas extraction, bioethanol manufacturing, and agribusiness. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, OKKO Group has contributed over UAH 38 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget. Additionally, it has donated UAH 2.2 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the country’s reconstruction efforts.
